Feb 13-15 2013 MIKELLE TERSON Art Jewelry and Musical Performance Show

Down a rabbit hole on the West Side on Valentine's Eve we found a small Wonderland, a magical treasure house of jewelry designed by Renaissance polymath, yoga teacher and blonde beauty Mikelle Terson, athlete, biologist and jewelry crafter who combines art, originality and wearability in her stylish, classic, museum quality creations, many of which can be viewed in the photos below, and at http://www.mikelledesign.com. Worn by stars such as Susan Sarandon and John Densmore, prices range from low hundreds to many thousands of dollars.

All of these prettily set out in her basement studio formed a sparkling framework for the cleared floor as a stage on Wednesday Feb 13 at 8pm, when the presentation of her work to a social gathering expanded from a tea party to musical performances by those listed below, several of which were very distinguished (see videos at end).

Erik Lawrence's own brief compositions on his breathy, vibrant saxophone were so absorbing that we were quite unhappy that we captured only the second, Matter Over Time, due to the bashful manner in which this well known musician introduced his work. Violinist Daisy Jopling's more extended pieces, one a movement of Vivaldi's Winter (February, including mimicry of teeth chattering merrily), the lead track from her new CD "The Healer Within", and her account of an Italian composer's version of Hungarian Dances, were energetic and as freely spontaneous as the body movements with which she enhanced the attention of the audience to her flair and musicality, which talents earned her a flying start to her career when she played a concerto in the Royal Albert Hall at 14.

The fleeting but memorable impression of the music was matched in quality by the more permanent art displayed in the necklaces, brooches and rings which glowed and sparkled as the musicians played and as composer (for Quincy Jones, Michael Jackson, Cher, and Steven Spielberg), songwriter and producer Tom Bahler read from his new novel "Anything Is Possible", inspired by Aesop, the slave born in 620 BC who according to myth became ambassador to King Croesus, the wealthiest monarch of the ancient world. Bahler read a passage where Aesop won his place at court by telling one of his best known fables, the Lion and the Mouse, to argue that even he could be of service to the great ruler.

The evening ended with Tom singing bass line accompaniment to his partner Faith's a capella of such purity and feeling that again we forgot to record it. http://onefaithlove.com/index.html)
